Kryptos
I recently read an article about Kryptos, the sculpture at the CIA that contains several codes. It seems that all but one code has been solved. The first 2 codes were based on a Keyed Vigenere Cipher and the 3rd was a column transformation cipher. The 4th code hasn’t been cracked yet. It is the shortest at 97 characters. Just a few weeks ago, the sculptor, Jim Sanborn, released a clue to the 4th code. He said that the letters NYPVTT translate into BERLIN. I assume that it is a direct letter for letter match and not something else that represents Berlin because it is 6 characters long like the cipher text. Wondering if the 4th puzzle is another Keyed Vigenere but with a longer key than part 1 and part 2, I’ve figured out several possible keys using the alphabet key ‘KRYPTOS’.
